Another Short Update
Posted 7/21/04, 2:23 PM

You can buy the split 7" we did with Jet by Day on iTunes now. Click here for it. Our song is called Theme Song. It's a good song, if I do say so myself.

You can also buy the actual 7" at the Two Sheds Music website.

More news to follow. I need to finish writing the update.

A Short Update
Posted 7/16/04, 1:48 PM

This is just a real quick update. I'll post a longer one at the beginning of next week. I can't believe it's been a year since our last show. To hold you over till the full update I'll post this link to a video our friend Upma edited together for us. It's footage she shot on super 8 film and a hi8 camcorder at the last DC show. There is a lot of footage from the last 5 shows that I'd like to put up as an archive for people to see, but in the meantime this will have to do.

Here's the Theme Song video. Enjoy.

How We Spent Our Summer Vacation
Posted 8/26/03, 2:52 PM

Man, it has been a while since I updated this site. I apologize for the delay. There have been quite a few update worthy tidbits, but I decided to wait and see how things played out before making any grand announcements or proclamations. It's safer that way.

I'd like to first thank everyone who came out to our last two shows with Sean. They were a lot of fun for us, in a self indulgent way. People did a good job of making Sean feel bad for leaving, which was pretty funny. We managed to get both shows on videotape. I'd like to digitize the footage and edit together a little bit of the last few shows to put something up on the website, but I don't know when I'll have time to do this. If you would like to help out send an e-mail to info@maginotline.com.

Have you purchased a copy of the split 7" with Jet by Day? If you havn't, go to the Two Sheds website and order a copy. Jet by Day will be on tour all fall in support of their new full length, and will have copies with them. So order one now, and then go to the Jet by Day shows this fall.

We are having our first practice as a 3 piece tonight. I'm very excited to get back to it. There were quite a few song ideas left dangling that I'd like to see completed, but I won't be upset if we decide to just scrap them and start over. It's going to be weird practicing without Sean around, but I think we've got enough distance and have done other things (which will be explained further down in this update) to prepare for it. Once we're back in the swing of practice I'll drop some knowledge about what to expect from us in the future.

In the meantime we've got a song coming out on a comp sometime this fall. Our friends at Red Stapler Records are putting together a comp of DC bands and have asked us to contribute a track. We're trying to decide on which of the last few songs we recorded with Sean to use. That made the most sense since it is unlikely that we'll have any new songs recorded for at least a few months. We would also like some of those songs to have a life past Seans departure, and this is the best way to do it. Check out their site for more details, and I'll also keep everyone appraised of any new info.

What, then, have we been doing all summer? As you all know, Sean has moved to San Diego and is all settled into his new apartment. He seems to be having a great time, and is very happy to be back. We're all going out to see him in 2 weeks, so I'm sure I'll have more to say about what San Diego is like for him then. Maybe I'll convince him to write a little update concerning his move and what's going on with him out there.

Dave has started a second band with some friends in Baltimore. They don't have a name yet, and I don't know that they've solidified a lineup, but from what I can tell it's going to be a sight to see. The current lineup includes such standouts as Lee Ashlin (the Fuses) on drums, and Christian Sturgis (the Uniform) on guitar. He's described it to me as "crusty punk with a weird bit of skronky-ness." I'm guessing they sound a lot like Steely Dan, but I could be WAY off base here. I'll post more information about them as I get it.

Not to be outdone by Dave, Rob and I have also started a second band. Rob is still on guitar, but I've switched to bass. It's still early to tell what it sounds like, but we're having a lot of fun doing it. I expect it to be very much a rock band, but with a few changes so as to not sound like the Maginot Line Part 2. Expect more info as it becomes available.

I think I'll wrap this up for now. I don't want to totally overwhelm you with pointless trivia about the number of chocolate dipped ice cream cones Rob ate, or how many karaoke jams Dave won. I'll save all that info for the next update, which won't take 3 months to do. Sign up for our mailing list on this page.

Here are demos of 2 songs that we recorded in our practice space this past December (12/02). These are just demos, and arn't mastered so they probably won't be as loud as other songs. With that said, we're all pretty happy with how it turned out. Enjoy.
